The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt, Letters from 1920s Farm Wives and the 111 Blocks They Inspired, by Laurie Aaron Hird
If you are making the 6-inch blocks from Laurie Aaron Hird’s book The Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt, you can print the templates from the book’s CD-rom, or you can use some of Marti Michell templates! 101 blocks from The Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt can be created using Marti Michell templates!
You MUST own a copy of the book to create the quilt. The book publisher has granted Marti permission to provide information on using her templates. If you don't have the book, you can buy it from us.
The most frequently used template sets are A, B, D, N and S.
Marti has compiled a series of PDF "conversion charts" on using the templates. Cutting instructions for 10 or 11 blocks are grouped together based on the shapes or construction techniques they have in common. There are 10 charts. The blocks are referred to by the name and number in The Farmer’s Wife book.
Make multiple blocks per month in the 12 month Block of the Month program.

This set of three 2 1/2 hour sessions wil offer a variety of projects to expand your basic sewing skills. You'll make a beautiful pillow case and a fun tote. Additional techniques like zippers and button holes will be covered if time allows. Basic sewing notions will be needed.

Learn the basics of quilting in this one day class by making a quilt top using only 5 fabrics. You will want to make this over and over and there are more patterns in the series.

Learn the Basics of sewing. We'll cover the necessary tools to begin a successful sewing experience. The class will guide you through the basic notions, fabric selection, and machine operation. You can bring your own machine or rent one of our user friendly Baby Lock classroom machines for a nominal fee. Class length 2 1/2 hours.

The Stitcher's Garden is a new way of learning different sewing feet each month. You will create a block each month that will make a 85" x 93" quilt top. This will be so much fun as you unlock the features and 16 different feet of your sewing machine. This is NOT machine embroidery.
