Begin to Quilt



Come and learn the basics of quilting in a fun and easy-going 4-week class! We will cover everything from quilting supplies, reading a pattern, fabric selection, learning to use a rotary cutter, how to use your rulers and mats to the best advantage, how to accurately cut fabric and the joy of pre-cuts by creating a table runner. We will learn what a 1/4" seam allowance is and looks like, how to achieve accurate piecing, pressing techniques and finishing your table runner.

Session 1: Understanding fabric, pattern selection and your sewing machine
Session 2: Getting started with table runner
Section 3: Borders and binding
Session 4: Decision to hand or machine quilt


Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: All skill levels welcome, from never quilted to needing a refresher!
Requirements: Sewing machine in good working order and standard sewing notions and tools Rotary cutter and mat Non slip quilting ruler (6.5" x 24") 1 charm square pack of your choice 1/4 yard of fabric of border 1 5/8 yard of fabric border 2 3/8 yard of fabric for binding 2 yards of fabric for backing 60" square of batting to use as a design wall
