Quilted Journal Cover

This fun class will be a way to use all those interesting stitches found on your machine but you never knew what to use them on!! A bespoked journal cover is a sure conversation starter and a useful artistic project.

Supplies:

Fabric scraps to create a fun design. Floral fabrics are great to cut out the
flower shapes or a print fabric to use for a big flower. Several different 2 ½”
strips at least 12” long to use for the background (we will use 6 strips for this.
Fabrics can be multiples of the same or all different). One strip 2” wide at
least 12” long for the outside spine of journal jacket.

Fabric for the backing – One piece 10 ¼’ x 15 ¾”, Two pieces 10 ¼” x 6”.

Neutral thread and a brown or dk grey thread for the applique

Composition Notebook

Sewing Machine – this is a great class to use all the fun fancy stitches your machine
comes with. Be sure to bring your manual that shows you how to use the stitches
and whatever feet you need too including your Free Motion Foot. If your machine
doesn’t have fancy stitches a zig zag stitch will also work. A straight stitch only
machine will not work for this class. If you are not comfortable doing free motion
a zig zag or button hole stitch will work find.

Wonder Clips

Heat erasable marking pen that shows up well on your fabrics.

Scissors

School Glue Stick

* I will supply the foundation canvas and a sheet of Wonder Under for the inside cover
