Beginners Quilting Class



Come and learn the basics of quilting in a fun and easy-going 4-week class! We will cover everything from quilting supplies, reading a pattern, fabric selection, learning to use a rotary cutter, how to use your rulers and mats to the best advantage, how to accurately cut fabric and the joy of pre-cuts (Charm Pack) by creating a table runner. We will learn what a 1/4" seam allowance is and looks like, how to achieve accurate piecing, pressing techniques and finishing your table runner.

Session 1: Understanding fabric, pattern selection and your sewing machine
Session 2: Getting started with table runner
Section 3: Borders and binding
Session 4: Decision to hand or machine quilt

Supplies needed:

Sewing Machine in good working order
Standard sewing notion and tools
Rotary Cutter and Mat
Non-slip quilting ruler (6.5" x 24")
1/4 yard fabric for Border 1
5/8 yard of fabric for Border 2
3/8 yard of fabric for Binding
2 yards of fabric for backing
60" square of batting or flannel backed table cloth for design wall
